Great images, hate to break it to you though not all of them are abstract, some fine art, some altered still life, some abstract, all awesome. I would however, recommend that you take a minute to find out each of the relevant genres for each picture and label them with it. Doing so makes the experience more accurate and ejoyable for the reader. I’m sure you know how rare that is.

  2. Roelof Says:

It is not abstract, people seem to get confused about art-styles. The work is shown is not related to art in my opinion. Why is this posted as art? I do think the work is made in a technical useful way but the link to art is a bit to far from reality which is difficult enough. I don’t want to be to negative, the work looks fine, nice in the perspective as it is. It is image design 2008 without a statement and there is no continuity in style, presentation etc. it is just a very enthusiastic software user.
Read a book about art before you post, the good news is that art is going in the drains because of these sites. We are all into art now because we have a machine called a computer and we can make anything we like and we can call it art.

  3. Kenneth Rougeau Says:

    Gorgeous collection.

  4. Rob Says:

    This is absolutely art.

ART: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

Step out of the 1800’s Roelof. Maybe that’s why you are so bitter…

  5. David the Attorney Says:

    BEAUTIFUL!

  6. Dude Says:

Rob is right. Roelof is an idiot. Roelof may actually be mentally retarded; some kind of savant who can form sentences and yet those sentences express nothing but ideas born in the kiln of retardation.

But it isn’t abstract. A couple of the pieces are abstract. Most are surrealist. Whatever. It is still art.

    Suck that Roelof.

  7. andrei Says:

Thanks for sharing the pictures! liked Frostbite most of all!

  8. g Says:

I don’t claim to be able to define ‘art’…

But I’m pretty sure most of these are remarkably ugly.

  9. alexandre Says:

you know… most of them aren’t really what one may call “abstract”…

  10. persephone Says:

Roelof, I would like to hear your definition of art, and more to the point, what delineates a creative expression and “Art” in your opinion. These works meet all classic criteria. This collection may doesn’t suit your taste, but it does not fail as art.

  11. Mike Says:

    Nothing impressive.

  12. Jk Says:

    I liked em’.
Computers are great tools; they even have paintbrushes in them.
Art is in the heart of the reader. I read “awesome!”

  13. furkan tunalı Says:

    they are really great !!!

  14. stace Says:

    Roelof”

“we can make anything we like and we can call it art.”

I thought that was the only rule? Who gets to judge what art is?

Oh, I know…the NAZIS did that!

    /GODWIN FIRST STRIKE

  15. neocreationist Says:

Uh, yeah, most definitely ART! Great collection!

  16. Justin Says:

but, although I disagree with roelof, isn’t the true definition of art (from free dictionary.com) is the human effort to imitate, supplement, alter, or counteract the work of nature. Ayn Rand, a philosopher who defined art said art is a human quality. So the point I’m trying to make is at what pint is the computer the creator and the artist the observer?

  17. Carys Says:

@ G: art doesn’t have to be beautiful all the time. Art can be quite ugly and still be art. Whether done with a computer or with a stick of charcoal, it can be art.

  18. eliza Says:

whether or not it is art isn’t for me to decide, but it is definitely not abstract. surrealist, maybe, fantasy art… but not abstraction…

  19. Moby Says:

In reply to Roelof.. I think your getting confused, in the old days al they had as tools were brushes and paint. todays modern artits use tools that were no available years ago, yes they are made on a computer but the artist still has to have the imagination and skill to use the tools of today, don’t think for one minute that just because they are rendered on a computer it does not take a lot of talent and hard work, try it yourself before condeming a modern aproach to art. Brushes paint, computers, these are just tools an artist uses to produce whats in the imagination.

  20. Roelof Says:

    @ Dude,
Talking about idiots, in your comment there is no content, you must be talking to a mirror.
    Please grow up

  22. Roelof Says:

In my personal opinion art is a combination of talent, hard work and coincidence.
I enjoy posting to some ‘art’ sites but I don’t do it a lot because themes as art, religion and ego’s always are very sensitive subjects to big headed people. I did my post (second from the top) because I knew there would be violent reactions. This are my experiments in life, where are the borders of human behavior, talks and feelings about silly things like art..

    I love the responses:
According to Dude (an anonymous coward) I am a mentally retarded idiot savant sucker.
According to Stace (another anonymous poster) I am a Nazi.
According to Moby (another anonymous poster) I am confused about today’s modern techniques because they are made on a computer (really, I did not know that) and it does not take a lot of work or talent to do that sort of art, thanks Moby, I finally understand (after 20 years working on digital imaging) the just invented tools of today.

This is wonderful, big headed anonymous posters who don’t leave their contact information is just proofing my point that the artistic world (whatever that is) has NO intellectual, moral or emotional value about art.

Oh yes, I like the other comments, I will, however continue to post on silly unnecessary sites.

It seems that a personal trick in computer software is called art but there are no references, just the the attitude: I AM A BIG ARTIST PLEASE UNDERSTAND.

What a poor world we are living in.

  23. Michelangelo Says:

In what was is this not art? Rather than looking down your nose at everyone, why not give an explanation to your comment? Or are you just a worthless troll?

  24. Doot Says:

Odd, when entering my info in here, it explicitly states that my information will not be posted roelly baby.
This is art, it is a creative expression. If Michaelangelo were here today, odds are he would take a crack at computer aided art.
    Also: Successful Troll is Successful!
