The 29 Finalists of the 5th Peugeot Design Contest Announced!

August 20th, 2008

As we have already mentioned in our previous article “Peugeot 3D Models Design Contest“, PEUGEOT AUTOMOBILES has been organizing a competition between 20 April and 20 July 2008 called the “Peugeot Design Competition 2008 (number 5)”.

All people who wished to take part in this contest had plenty of time to submit their works. And PEUGEOT has already selected 29 designs amongst the entries received. The general rules of the competition were as follows: Entrants must design their project in accordance with the following theme: “IMAGINE THE PEUGEOT IN THE WORLDWIDE MEGALOPOLIS OF TOMORROW”. The participants should take into consideration Peugeot’s stylistic codes and their projects must contain the following four aspects: environmental awareness, social harmony, interactive mobility and economic efficiency. So, everyone had a chance to try himself and appear as an automobile engineer using all his creative imagination.

The selection process and procedures are rather complicated and consist of several stages until the winner is selected. The second and third place competition winners will also be announced. Now the voting is at its height. If you take part in voting and guess which project will win the Design Contest, you have a chance to win one of the 20 Xbox 360! At the end of the competition, PEUGEOT will build a full size model of the winning vehicle, which will be exhibited at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2009.

And now the most interesting part… The 29 finalists with their concept car designs are presented below.

Peugeot 3D Models Design Contest

June 11th, 2008

During the last years the world of 3D modeling was following a very interesting design contest from a well known French car manufacturer Peugeot. The contest is also active now, it’s called “Peugeot Design Contest - 5th edition” by the way and 3D artists can submit their works for it. But first things first. In this post we will review the award winning 3D Models as well as the ones we consider the most interesting from the contests of previous years. And let’s start from the beginning:

2000-2001: “2020″ - a concept car for the year 2020

The winner of the 2000-2001 competition was “Moonster” by 23-year-old student at the university of applied art in Belgrade - Marko Lukovic. His proposal was that the Peugeot of 2020 should be an original vehicle, inspired by aeronautics, incorporating a two-seater passenger compartment in the center.

Here is a couple of screenshots of a digital 3D Model:

HARD TRUCKS

Very insolent and courageous vehicle with huge massive wheels. Personally I wouldn’t mind getting to work in a car like this every morning due to NY traffic jams :)

Night Searching

This vehicle may first seem funny to you as it looks like a frog, but when you find out that this tank is now in the real Chinese armory, your impression will change :) But to be serious lighting and texturing of tank model and surroundings make this work awesome. Great color, great light, great scene. And an award-winning work by the way.
